Baking our gluten free bread

Our loaves are made in a dedicated gluten, wheat and milk free bakery in Newburn, Newcastle, by a team of expert Warburtons bakers. We use traditional proofers and bread ovens, and techniques we have perfected during over a century of baking, to ensure we always deliver the great taste and quality you've come to expect from Warburtons – without the gluten, wheat or milk.

We use a range of quality ingredients to achieve this. Our special blend of starches replaces the wheat to give the bread thickness, while oil is essential for creating a soft and pliable mixture. Just like traditional bread, we use gluten and wheat free yeast to help the bread rise, and give it a light texture and rich flavour.

The final step of the process is quality control, which is very important to us – every day, our bakers examine the day's bread to ensure the flavour, texture, size and consistency of each loaf lives up to our high standards. Loaves are then delivered daily to supermarkets and convenience stores across the country, so you can enjoy it while it's deliciously fresh.
